Neil Savery is Managing Director of ICC Oceania, part of the International Code Council, delivering building safety solutions globally. He also advises the Insurance Council of Australia on resilient buildings.
Previously, Neil was Chief Executive of the Australian Building Codes Board for nine years, leading major reforms to the National ConstructionCode, including performance-based design, digitisation, improved readability, and implementation of the Building Confidence Report recommendations. He also led policy reforms on energy efficiency, liveable housing, plumbing safety and climate resilience.
Neil has held senior roles including Deputy Commissioner of the Victorian Building and Plumbing Industry Commissions, Chief Planning Executive for the ACT Planning & LandAuthority, and Executive Director go Planning SA. He chaired key intergovernmental committees and helped found the Global Resiliency Dialogue.
A Registered Planner and Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors, Neil has served as national President of the Planning Institute of Australian has been an Adjunct Professor at the University of Canberra. He holds qualifications in town planning, urban design and sustainable development.
